Outback dates, back on the rise.

Outback dates, back on the rise.

Great to see ABC Rural out at Tamara Plantation this week.

After the February rains wiped out the 2026 harvest at the worst possible moment, the Desert Fruit Company crew is already in the palms — collecting pollen, pollinating by hand, and getting ready to bag the next crop. Early signs are strong. Plenty of flowers this year, and harvest is lined up for late February into early March.

It’s the usual Central Australian mix: hard graft in the red sand, a co-op that keeps turning up, and a farm that has to take whatever the season throws at it. Kim and the team have it well in hand.

Worth a read if you want the full picture of what’s happening 70 km south-east of Alice:

No new dates until March 2027 — then we’ll be back.
